Show the working
- 1 kV = 1000 V
- 1 × 1000 = 1000 V
How to convert kilovolts to volts
1 kV = 1,000 V, so multiply by 1,000 to go from kilovolts to volts. Going the other way, 1 V = 0.001 kV.
V = kV × 1,000 kV = V × 0.001
Worked example:
1 kV = 1000 V 5 × 1000 = 5000 V
