Convert time between seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades and centuries, plus milliseconds and smaller.

Change the values and press Calculate to work out your own figures.

Enter a length of time, choose its unit and the unit you want. The answer is exact until it is shown, and the same value appears in every other unit.

About valueA number, fraction (3/8), mixed number (1 1/2), scientific notation (2.5e6) or a simple sum such as 2*3.
About toThe unit you want the answer in. Swap exchanges the two units.

Show the working
  1. 1 h = 60 min
  2. 2.5 × 60 = 150 min

How to use it

Type a length of time, choose the unit it is in and the unit you want, then press Calculate. You can type decimals, fractions such as 3/8, mixed numbers such as 1 1/2, very large or small numbers such as 2.5e6, and simple sums such as 2*3. Swap exchanges the two units.

The answer is worked out with exact fractions and only rounded for display, to 12 significant figures. Below it you get the same value in every other unit on the list, and Show the working gives the factor that was used.

Key definitions

1 min = 60 s; 1 h = 60 min; 1 day = 24 h
1 week = 7 days
1 year (average) = 365.2425 days

Months and years are averages

A calendar year has 365 or 366 days and a month 28 to 31, so they can't be converted exactly without dates. This converter uses averages (a year of 365.2425 days, the Gregorian average, and a month of a twelfth of that). To count the days between two actual dates, use the days between dates calculator.
