The answer is worked out with exact fractions and only rounded for display, to 12 significant figures. Below it you get the same value in every other unit on the list, and Show the working gives the factor that was used.
Key definitions
1 cup granulated sugar = 200 g 1 cup brown sugar, packed = 220 g 1 cup powdered sugar, unsifted = 120 g
Packed, loose, sifted
Brown sugar is usually measured firmly packed, which makes a cup much heavier than a loose one. Powdered sugar is the opposite: sifting makes it lighter. Choose the entry that matches the recipe's wording.

Limitations
- Volume-to-weight results depend on how the ingredient is measured (spooned, scooped, sifted, packed, chopped); USDA household weights are averages and a scooped cup of flour can weigh 10-20% more than the listed value.
- Only the types listed here are offered; the cooking conversion calculator covers 70+ ingredients and your own density.
