Sticks, cups and grams
In the US, butter comes in quarter-pound sticks marked in tablespoons: one stick is 8 tablespoons or half a cup, and four sticks make a pound. European butter is sold by weight (often 250 g blocks), so converting a US recipe usually means turning sticks or cups into grams.

Limitations
- Volume-to-weight results depend on how the ingredient is measured (spooned, scooped, sifted, packed, chopped); USDA household weights are averages and a scooped cup of flour can weigh 10-20% more than the listed value.
- Only the types listed here are offered; the cooking conversion calculator covers 70+ ingredients and your own density.
