Pressure Converter
Convert pressure between psi, bar, pascals, kilopascals, atmospheres, torr, mmHg and inches of mercury.
Change the values and press Calculate to work out your own figures.
Enter a pressure, choose its unit and the unit you want. The answer is exact until it is shown, and the same value appears in every other unit.
Show the working
- 1 psi = 0.0689475729317 bar
- 30 × 0.0689475729317 = 2.06842718795 bar
How to use it
Type a pressure, choose the unit it is in and the unit you want, then press Calculate. You can type decimals, fractions such as 3/8, mixed numbers such as 1 1/2, very large or small numbers such as 2.5e6, and simple sums such as 2*3. Swap exchanges the two units.
The answer is worked out with exact fractions and only rounded for display, to 12 significant figures. Below it you get the same value in every other unit on the list, and Show the working gives the factor that was used.
Key definitions
1 atm = 101,325 Pa = 760 torr 1 bar = 100,000 Pa = 1,000 mbar 1 psi ≈ 6,894.757 Pa
Tire and gauge pressure
Tire and air-compressor gauges read pressure above the surrounding air (gauge pressure), usually in psi or bar. 32 psi is about 2.2 bar or 220 kPa. The converter converts the number as given; it does not add or remove atmospheric pressure.
Weather and blood pressure
Weather maps use hectopascals (the same as millibars) or inches of mercury; standard sea-level pressure is 1013.25 hPa or 29.92 inHg. Blood pressure is given in millimeters of mercury.
Questions
How many psi is 1 bar?
About 14.5038 psi.
What is 32 psi in bar?
About 2.206 bar (gauge).
Formulas
result = (value × f(from) + o(from) − o(to)) ÷ f(to)
