  1. 1 kB = 1e-6 GB
  2. 1 × 1e-6 = 1e-6 GB

How to convert kilobytes to gigabytes

1 kB = 1 × 10⁻⁶ GB, so multiply by 1 to go from kilobytes to gigabytes. Going the other way, 1 GB = 1,000,000 kB.

GB = kB × 1
kB = GB × 1,000,000

Worked example:

1 kB = 1e-6 GB
5 × 1e-6 = 5e-6 GB

About the units

Kilobytes (kB)
Kilobytes, a metric unit. Decimal (SI) kilobyte = 1000^1 bytes. Many operating systems label the binary kibibyte (KiB) as 'kB'. Definition: NIST: Prefixes for binary multiples (IEC 80000-13).
Gigabytes (GB)
Gigabytes, a metric unit. Decimal (SI) gigabyte = 1000^3 bytes. Many operating systems label the binary gibibyte (GiB) as 'GB'. Definition: NIST: Prefixes for binary multiples (IEC 80000-13).
