1 kB = 8 × 10⁻⁶ Gbit

Show the working
  1. 1 kB = 8e-6 Gbit
  2. 1 × 8e-6 = 8e-6 Gbit

How to convert kilobytes to gigabits

1 kB = 8 × 10⁻⁶ Gbit, so multiply by 8 to go from kilobytes to gigabits. Going the other way, 1 Gbit = 125,000 kB.

Gbit = kB × 8
kB = Gbit × 125,000

Worked example:

1 kB = 8e-6 Gbit
5 × 8e-6 = 4e-5 Gbit

About the units

Kilobytes (kB)
Kilobytes, a metric unit. Decimal (SI) kilobyte = 1000^1 bytes. Many operating systems label the binary kibibyte (KiB) as 'kB'. Definition: NIST: Prefixes for binary multiples (IEC 80000-13).
Gigabits (Gbit)
Gigabits, a metric unit. Definition: NIST: Prefixes for binary multiples (IEC 80000-13).
