Show the working
  1. 1 B = 1e-6 MB
  2. 1 × 1e-6 = 1e-6 MB

How to convert bytes to megabytes

1 B = 1 × 10⁻⁶ MB, so multiply by 1 to go from bytes to megabytes. Going the other way, 1 MB = 1,000,000 B.

MB = B × 1
B = MB × 1,000,000

Worked example:

1 B = 1e-6 MB
5 × 1e-6 = 5e-6 MB

About the units

Bytes (B)
Bytes, a specialised unit. Definition: NIST: Prefixes for binary multiples (IEC 80000-13).
Megabytes (MB)
Megabytes, a metric unit. Decimal (SI) megabyte = 1000^2 bytes. Many operating systems label the binary mebibyte (MiB) as 'MB'. Definition: NIST: Prefixes for binary multiples (IEC 80000-13).
