Concrete Reinforcing Mesh Calculator
Find how many sheets or rolls of welded wire mesh a slab needs, allowing for overlap, with cost.
Change the values and press Calculate to work out your own figures.
From the slab's size
Enter the slab's length and width and the sheet or roll size.
Show the working
- pieces = slab area ÷ (piece area × (1 − overlap %)), rounded up
From the slab's area
Enter the slab's area and the sheet or roll size.

How to use it
Enter the slab's length and width and the sheet or roll size. Enter the slab's area and the sheet or roll size.
Lengths can be decimals, fractions or tape entries such as 12' 6 1/2" (in feet or inches). Prices are optional.
Key facts
sheets = slab area ÷ (sheet area × (1 − overlap %)), rounded up
Laps
Welded wire mesh is usually lapped by one wire spacing plus 2 in (at least 6 in for 6 × 6 in mesh). Fiber mesh mixed into the concrete needs no lap.
Questions
How many 5 × 50 ft rolls for a 25 × 25 ft slab?
3 rolls (2.5 without overlap).
What does a 10% lap mean?
A tenth of each sheet's width overlaps the next.
Formulas
sheets = slab area ÷ (sheet area × (1 − overlap %)), rounded up

Limitations
- Material densities are typical values (the midpoint of the commonly published range); real loads vary with moisture, grading and compaction, so check with your supplier or type in their density.
- Tank results are the geometric volume; real tanks have wall thickness and fittings.
